Superior Township

Overview

A civil township located in northern Chippewa County, Superior Township contains two unincorporated communities, Brimley and Raco. The township covers more than 100 square miles, encompassing the Delirium Wilderness which can be found south of Raco.

A serene and laidback community with a warm small-town atmosphere, Superior Township is a place rich with history and packed with enjoyable and unforgettable outdoor activities.

 

What’s in the Area

Visit the historic Point Iroquois Light Station and climb to the top of the lighthouse, which has been in service for over a century. Drop by during the summer and hear about its history as told by costumed historic interpreters.

Play 18 holes of golf at the Wild Bluff Golf Course in Brimley, a championship level golf course with breathtaking views, excellent course conditions, and topnotch service and amenities. The course has its own practice facility as well.

Have some fun at Bay Mills Resort and Casinos located right next to Wild Bluff Golf Course. This waterfront establishment features two casinos, more than 140 hotel rooms, four restaurants, and more than 120 RV sites.

Take a sip of some of the finest coffee in the region at the Dancing Crane Coffee House, one of Brimley’s most popular coffeehouses.

Spend a day at scenic Brimley State Park, one of the oldest state parks in the Upper Peninsula. There are tons of opportunities for some unforgettable camping, fishing, hunting, boating, and hiking in this great campground located on the breathtaking shores of Lake Superior’s Whitefish Bay.
